More Details Revealed On HOLY MOSES’ New Album Redefined Mayhem

HOLY MOSES no longer have anything to prove to the international metal scene. Their multi-faceted thrash metal, front woman Sabina Classen’s charismatic voice and their unique mix of traditional attitude and experimental evolvement have been instrumental in establishing the band as a known quantity since the beginning of their career in the early 1980s. Their current album release Redefined Mayhem is a prime example of an album, which expertly blends past and present. “HOLY MOSES have never released standard thrash songs, and we never will,” Sabina Classen explains with some pride. “We write songs which we like ourselves and don’t compromise in terms of trends and concessions to wrong expectations. We don’t have to please everybody, we’re our own brand, we have our own sound, which includes the occasional odd beat, technically demanding passages and unusual chord structures as well as interesting lyrics which deal with the dark side of people and their minds.”

That HOLY MOSES mark 2014 don’t show any symptoms of fatigue is mainly due to their perfect balance consisting of founder members and musicians who have played in other groups: vocalist Sabina Classen has been the voice and face of HOLY MOSES since 1981, bassist Thomas Neitsch has been in the band for six years, drummer Gerd Lücking joined the fold three years ago, and guitarist Peter Geltat was enlisted in 2012, supporting his colleagues immediately in a number of successful shows such as the Barge To Hell Cruise 2012. The current line-up is ready to face new challenges in a permanently evolving metal genre. “This is HOLY MOSES mark 2014, and Redefined Mayhem defines a new chapter of our band history,” explains Sabina Classen, adding: “We had to redefine ourselves as a band and gel as a team. There were people who voiced their doubts that it would work. But the new songs prove beyond all doubt that HOLY MOSES continue to be a force to be reckoned with.”

There can be no doubt: Redefined Mayhem sees HOLY MOSES 2014 reach a new pinnacle of their creative work. Their fans can look forward to a contemporary thrash metal oeuvre, which reflects the band members’ influence while skilfully forging an arch to the group’s successful past with classics such as Finished With The Dogs (1987) and The New Machine Of Liechtenstein (1989). Classen: “It’s still first-rate thrash metal, fast-paced and powerful, chaotic at times but with a modern touch and amazingly multi-faceted guitars and drums.”

Redefined Mayhem will be released in Scandinavia on April 23rd, in Germany on April 25th, in Europe on April 28th and in the USA on April 29th through SPV/Steamhammer as CD, double gatefold LP with colored vinyl plus onus track and the CD in a cardboard sleeve and as download. ADMIRAL SIR CLOUDESLEY SHOVELL to Release Check ’em Before You Wreck ’em April 15th on Rise Above Records in North America

Artwork and Track Listing Revealed

ADMIRAL SIR CLOUDESLEY SHOVELL are the last of a dying breed of Grease Rock Bastard musicians who somehow, despite and in spite of the last 3 decades trying their best to kill off balls out, non-bullshit rock’n’roll music, somehow, against all the fucking odds, still exist, surviving on a steady diet of God sent gigs, hire vans, broken down amps, split drum skins, greasy spoon fry ups, patched up jeans, roll-ups, cheap leather jackets, booze, weed and bathtub speed.

Spare them your sympathy – no one made the silly bastards do it. They Just NEED to!! Right??

Facts to face – the SHOVELL are named after a 17th century English naval commander; Bill Darlington plays drums, Louis Comfort-Wiggett plays bass and Johnny Gorilla plays guitar and sings, they have been together as a band since 2008

Their debut 2011 Rise Above 7″, Return To Zero’/’Day After Day, sold out instantly and now commands £100 plus a copy; their 2012 debut long-player Don’t Hear It…Fear It received unilateral rave reviews and was described pretty accurately by one scribe as ‘the aural equivalent of stumbling into an 18 year-old male’s bedsit in 1973 – the kind of greasy hard-rock thrills rarely heard in this climate of blind nostalgia and misjudged authenticity. It’s hard ‘n’ heavy, without the marshmallow; it’s old-fashioned yet so NOW that it hurts!!”

They’ve toured and played with the likes of Orange Goblin, Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats, Incredible Hog, Gentlemans Pistols, Graveyard, Gonga and countless more, toured Europe and had chief Groundhog Tony McPhee playing on their first LP!

On their new LP Check ’em Before You Wreck ’em the SHOVELL somehow carry on the lineage of the truly golden age of British heavy rock whose dog shit stained road was paved by the likes of Budgie, Sabbath, early Motorhead, Quo, Lizzy, The Groundhogs, Stray etc. Chuck in a healthy chunk of U.S. and Aussie proto metallurgists Sir Lord Baltimore, Dust, Bang, The Litter and Buffalo, as well as a healthy Vertigo ‘Swirl’ of dew picked mushrooms bad trip psych.

The SHOVELL thinks the world could do with another slice of no-nonsense re-gressive proto-rock ‘n’metal – one that you don’t need a Degree in doom-rock or a Masters in metal to appreciate – just a  love of when music was

F U N!!!

Remember kids – CHECK ‘EM BEFORE YOU WRECK ‘EM!!!

ROB ZOMBIE Working On TV Series About MANSON Family Murders

Image

According to VarietyRob Zombie and “American Psycho” writer Bret Easton Ellis have teamed up with Alcon Television to develop a project for Fox that will revisit the people and events connected to the Manson murder spree in August 1969. The limited series will see Ellis writing the script and Zombie directing.

“I have been obsessed with this insane story since I was a kid, so obviously I jumped at the chance to be involved in this incredible project. After speaking with Bret, I immediately realized that we shared the same vision for this epic madness,” Zombie said.

The Manson slayings saw crazed cult leader Charles Manson brainwashing members of a commune known as The Family into butchering eight people, including film director Roman Polanski‘s pregnant wife Sharon TateManson was eventually convicted of first-degree murder and conspiracy charges even though he was never found to have committed a homicide himself.

In association with Alcon Television and Madhouse Entertainment, the project is in very early development for a possible event series, a Fox representative told TheWrap. The series will dive into the people and events, before and after the slayings, with connected storylines and characters, told from different points of view.

Zombie‘s last film, “The Lords Of Salem”, came out last year in limited theatrical release before heading to home video.

Zombie will kick off a 12-date run of shows on April 26 in Fort Myers, Florida at the Fort Rock festival, mixing other major rock festival stops with headlining shows before wrapping up on May 10 in Camden, New Jersey.

SLIPKNOT To Begin ‘Major, Major Work’ On New Album In March, Says COREY TAYLOR

Image

SLIPKNOT frontman Corey Taylor has told U.K.’s Kerrang! magazine that the band will begin “major, major work” on its fifth album in March. 17 demos are ready for SLIPKNOT‘s first CD since 2008’s “All Hope Is Gone” and the first since the 2010 death of bassist Paul Gray and December 2013 departure of drummer Joey Jordison, one of the band’s founding members and key songwriters.

Regarding the direction of SLIPKNOT‘s new material, Taylor said: “I can say that, to me — and this is only my opinion — it’s a cross between [2001’s] ‘Iowa’ and [2004’s] ‘Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses)’, but that’s honestly just scratching the surface. I think fans are going to be very, very excited when they hear this stuff.”

He added: “I’ve written lyrics for everything that we have right now and it’s feeling pretty good. It feels like the story of the band so far, which is a totally different take on what I’ve been used to writing with SLIPKNOT, but I think, because of everything we’ve been through, it’s time to tell that story. Not just from our point of view, but from everything around us. So, yeah… it’s going to be interesting. It’s going to be everything you want in a SLIPKNOT album, and everything you wouldn’t expect.”

Taylor was unwilling to comment on anything “controversial” during his interview with Kerrang! and wouldn’t discuss Jordison‘s exit from the band, but he did hint at deeper family problems that needed to be resolved, as he reflected how his life was during the band’s break in activity.

“Last year, it felt like we put enough miles between the bad stuff and the good stuff — that we could start enjoying life again,” he said. “Personally, my family took a couple of hits in the last year and a half, and it felt good to be able to let go of that deep breath we’d been holding. Professionally, I got to do a lot of stuff I wasn’t expecting, which was cool, and now I’m feeling like it’s time to revisit the ‘KNOT and see where we’re at right there. My hopes for this year are to be creative — getting that creative itch. And with the new SLIPKNOT album, I’m starting to feel that side of things.”

SLIPKNOT guitarist Jim Root told The Pulse Of Radio late last year — before the news about Jordison broke — that he was feeling the urgency to make a new SLIPKNOT album. “You know, we haven’t done a record since Paul‘s been gone and it’s been pushing six years. And there’s a lot of people in SLIPKNOT and a lot of fans and me myself kind of feel like it’s time for that hurdle to be overcome. And for me, that’s really like my number one priority and the most important thing for me right now.”

SLIPKNOT has not disclosed the reasons for Jordison‘s exit, although the drummer issued a statement in January saying that he did not quit the band.

Root, who plays in both SLIPKNOT and STONE SOUR with Taylor, sat out STONE SOUR‘s recent North American tour with POP EVIL and STOLEN BABIES in order to work on the new SLIPKNOT album.

Taylor told The Pulse Of Radio not long ago that he thought 2014 would be the year that SLIPKNOT came back with new music. “I know everybody is pretty keen on getting together and seeing what happens [this] year, so I mean, if it takes us a year to write an album, so be it,” he said. “The main goal is to just get us in the room and just see what happens, you know. If we can get past that first day, I think it’ll come together. Now that we’re all kind of in better places in our lives and whatnot, it’s making it a little easier to be excited about it again. It’s just starting to feel like it’s time.”

CROWBAR To Release ‘Symmetry In Black’ In May

Image

New Orleans sludge metal veterans CROWBAR will release their new album, “Symmetry In Black”, in North America on May 27 via Entertainment One Music. The CD, which will be made available in Europe on May 26 through Century Media Records, was produced by CROWBAR guitarist/vocalist Kirk Windstein and Duane Simoneaux and was mixed by Josh Wilbur (LAMB OF GODGOJIRA).

Comments Windstein: “We are so proud and excited about what we have accomplished with this record! The focus, determination and attitude in the band is at an all-time high.

“We are 100% ready to get this juggernaut rolling and never touch the breaks again.

CROWBAR will not be stopped!”

The release of “Symmetry In Black” will coincide with the 25th anniversary of the CROWBAR‘s inception. Windstein continues: “CROWBAR is my heart and soul. The music is a part of me that I am extremely proud of.

“It’s an amazing feeling to be putting all of my energy and focus into something that I created 25 years ago!

CROWBAR will make a bone-crushing appearance at Maryland Deathfest in the U.S.

Windstein exited DOWN in September 2013 in order to focus “100%” on CROWBAR. He was replaced in DOWN by the band’s longtime stage manager and HONKY founding guitarist Bobby Landgraf.

CROWBAR last year announced the addition of bassist Jeff Golden to the group’s ranks.

Jeff is from Bolton, Connecticut, but currently resides in Estero, Florida.

CROWBAR is:

Kirk Windstein (Guitar, Vocals)
Matt Brunson (Guitar)
