DORO To Release ‘Strong And Proud – 30 Years Of Rock And Metal’ CD/DVD/Blu-Ray

German metal queen Doro Pesch celebrated the 30th anniversary of performing live during 2013 and 2014 by touring the world extensively for a year and by playing three official anniversary shows.

The tour kicked off impressively in front of 85,000 people at the world’s biggest metal festival, Wacken Open Air, followed by two sold-out nights in her hometown, Dusseldorf, where she also started her outstanding career.

And everyone came to party with Doro: Phil Campbell (MOTÖRHEAD), Biff Byford (SAXON), Chris Caffery (SAVATAGE), Blaze Bayley (ex-IRON MAIDEN), Joakim Brodén (SABATON), Hansi Kürsch (BLIND GUARDIAN), Udo Dirkschneider, Uli Jon Roth, LORDI as well as many more amazing guests — the list of stars who celebrated the metal queen on stage comes across like a “Who’s Who” of the rock and metal scene.

Three decades of Doro — three unforgettable nights — forever captured on three DVDs and two Blu-rays; including an two-hour-plus great music movie, which delivers deep insights behind the scenes and inside the heart of Doro. Nuclear Blast will release this incredible Doro anniversary package, titled “Strong And Proud – 30 Years Of Rock And Metal”, on June 24. It is a fantastic memory for everyone who has seen Doro live worldwide during her anniversary and a revelation for all fans of good, hard rock music and classy live performance with blood, sweat and tears.

Says Doro: “We spent endless hours, days and nights working on the DVD, because we wanted to present a real highlight for all rock and metal fans for the 30th anniversary. We took care of every detail. It began already with the bombastic stage in Wacken, we worked one year on its design. In Dusseldorf, we even celebrated two nights in a row. One ‘Classic Night’ with a 40-piece orchestra and one ‘balls to the wall’ rock show on the second evening. It continued subsequently nonstop — with an anniversary tour, with led us to Russia, South America and my second home, the USA, among others.”

“Strong And Proud – 30 Years Of Rock And Metal” contains 38 songs in total, a full load of rock and metal, including all Doro classics, many old WARLOCK hits and ingenious cover versions of songs such as “Fear Of The Dark” (IRON MAIDEN) and “Balls To The Wall” (ACCEPT). The filming and cutting is phenomenal, and the sound crystal-clear. Once again, the packaging was drawn by Doro‘s favourite artist, Geoffrey Gillespie.

Additionally, “Strong And Proud – 30 Years Of Rock And Metal” offers a unique music movie with a two-hour plus documentary, “Behind The Curtain, Inside The Heart Of Doro”. It gives the spectator deep and detailed insights into the world of Doro.

Says Doro: “There’s always great impressions from all over the world and never before seen pictures from our life behind the stage. The camera team accompanied us for over one year everywhere and captured very emotional, intimate and human situations.”

“Strong And Proud – 30 Years Of Rock And Metal” will be released in the following formats:

BON SCOTT To Be Honored As His New Statue Is Unveiled

The Scottish town of Kirriemuir will this weekend pay homage to one of gods of rock ‘n’ roll, as it unveils a life-sized statue of Bon Scott, the influential frontman of world-conquering band AC/DC.

Keen to recognize the Scottish roots of the talismanic lead singer — voted No. 1 on a list of the “100 Greatest Frontmen Of All Time” by Classic Rock magazine — the bronze statue will be revealed during the tenth annual Bon Scott international festival, Bonfest, by event organizers DD8 Music. It follows a two-year crowdfunding campaign, which drew support from AC/DC members themselves, as well as thousands of the band’s loyal fans worldwide.

The Angus town was home to a young Ronald Bedford Scott until the age of six, when his family left Scotland for Fremantle, Western Australia.

Scott was invited to join the band by Glasgow-born brothers and founding members Malcolm and Angus Young in 1974, and achieved international stardom before his death at the age of 33 in 1980.

To mark the occasion, several of Scott‘s contemporaries are scheduled to attend Bonfest, along with almost 4,000 avid AC/DC fans from across the globe. During the festival, tribute acts from all over Europe will bring Kirriemuir to life with the sounds of one of its most celebrated sons.

DD8 Music development worker Graham Galloway said: “In 2008, Bon‘s Australian home town, Fremantle, unveiled a statue of him. At that point we started thinking it might be good to have one here where he started his life.

“The unveiling will take place on Saturday, 30th of April, and will be carried out by some very special guests: Mark Evans, bass player on four of the Bon-era albums; Tony Currenti, drummer on AC/DC‘s first album; and Mary Renshaw, Bon‘s seamstress and ‘soulmate.’

“We are looking at a total attendance of 3,700 and are expecting fans from all over the world to travel. We have confirmed travellers from the USA, Canada, Spain, Italy, Norway, Germany, Austria, Italy, Switzerland, Australia and New Zealand. All in all, it is shaping up to be an amazing weekend.”

The event will be supported by EventScotland‘s National Funding Programme in its tenth-anniversary year, which has allowed for the erection of a big top festival site and a street party to take place. Bonfest is also supported by Angus Council.

Stuart Turner, head of EventScotland, said: “We are delighted to support the life and work of one of Scotland’s most influential and best-loved musicians with our funding of the tenth edition of Bonfest.

“I’m sure that the newly-unveiled statue will serve as further incentive for AC/DC aficionados to make the journey to Kirriemuir in the future to see where Bon spent his formative years, but also to experience all that wider Angus and Scotland have to offer.”

To find out more about Bonfest, visit www.bonfest.com.

Individual members of AC/DC past and present have offered their support previously, with former bassist Mark Evans saying in 2012, “It’s so amazing that Bon is getting honored like this, especially since Scotland is such an important place in the history of AC/DC. Bon already had a street named after him in Kirriemuir and now this!”

The statue will be the second of Scott, who was born in Kirriemuir in 1946 but moved with his family to Australia in 1952. An Australian statue honoring Scott has already been on display since February 2008.

The singer died in 1980 at the age of 33 from alcohol poisoning. He sang on AC/DC‘s first six studio albums, including “High Voltage”, “Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap”, “Let There Be Rock” and “Highway To Hell”.

AC/DC guitarist Angus Young told The Pulse Of Radio a while back that the band almost didn’t get past Scott‘s death. “Bon was the big… He was a full-on frontman, plus he had this great character, you know. I mean, he just lived that rock ‘n’ roll life. With Bon, what you saw was what you got, and, yeah, it was pretty, pretty tough.”

IN THIS MOMENT Guitarist's Neck Injury Forces European Tour Cancelation

IN THIS MOMENT has been forced to cancel its previously announced European tour due to an injury sustained by the band’s guitarist Chris Howorth.

Howorth says in a statement: “I have injured my neck and am unable to move my head more than an inch or two in any direction — and I now have the burden of making some pretty weighty decisions for myself.

“In order to continue performing live, I am aggressively seeking treatment and must remain at home in Los Angeles.

“I am devastated that our European shows are affected by this but in order to keep moving forward with the band, it’s imperative to work on getting better.”

Adds IN THIS MOMENT frontwoman Maria Brink: “The last time we were in Europe, I felt such fire and magic at the shows — I have been absolutely dying to get back.

“It’s probably easy for everyone to think, ‘Why don’t you just go without Chris,’ but the truth is, he is my partner, brother and one of my closest friends. I can’t bring myself to do this tour without him. It simply would not be IN THIS MOMENT.”

IN THIS MOMENT‘s North American tour dates are not affected by the European tour cancelation.

Drummer Tom Hane announced his departure from IN THIS MOMENT last month, explaining in a statement that he had “struggled to be truly happy creatively.”

WHITECHAPEL To Release ‘Mark Of The Blade’ Album In June

On June 24, Knoxville, Tennessee death metallers WHITECHAPEL will release their sixth full-length album, “Mark Of The Blade”, via Metal Blade Records. According to a press release, the new record “remains true to the band’s roots while venturing into previously unexplored territory, both sonically and lyrically.”

The lyric video for the first single from “Mark Of The Blade” — the album’s title track — can be seen below.

Reunited with producer Mark Lewis (THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, CANNIBAL CORPSE), WHITECHAPEL has redefined who they are and what they are capable of with “Mark Of The Blade”. Kicking off with “The Void” — which has a SLAYER-esque ferocity that is perfectly suited to the band’s three-guitar attack — the songs that follow all leave a distinct impression, and by the time the rich, dark melodies on “Decennium” bring the record to a close, it’s impossible to deny the emotional weight brought to bear. “It’s the most dynamic record we’ve done, in the sense that one song can be very aggressive while the next one will be softer and sentimental,” WHITECHAPEL guitarist Alex Wade asserts. “At this point in our career and as we grow older, we are taking a more open-minded approach to creating our music, allowing what we think sounds good to evolve naturally, rather than to just write what is expected of us.”

“Mark Of The Blade” track listing:

01. The Void
02. Mark of the Blade
03. Elitist Ones
04. Bring Me Home
05. Tremors
06. A Killing Industry
07. Tormented
08. Brotherhood
09. Dwell in the Shadows
10. Venomous
11. Decennium

Prior to “Mark Of The Blade”‘s release, WHITECHAPEL will headline a U.S. tour with FIT FOR A KING, THE PLOT IN YOU and ENTERPRISE EARTH as support — thus concluding the campaign for 2014’s “Our Endless War” (which debuted at No. 10 on The Billboard 200 chart). Following that trek, WHITECHAPEL will join ATREYU, BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE, EVERY TIME I DIE, MOTIONLESS IN WHITE, and many more on this year’s Vans Warped Tour.

FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH & SHINEDOWN Announce Co-Headlining Tour/SIXX:A.M. To Support

FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH and SHINEDOWN are partnering to co-headline a fall arena rock tour produced by Frank Productions/NS2/ CMoore Live — an epic trek that kicks off on October 18 in Little Rock, Arkansas and crisscrosses North America through December.

The tour is also highlighted by special guest SIXX:A.M. featuring vocalist/producer James Michael, MÖTLEY CRÜE bassist Nikki Sixx and guitarist DJ Ashba. U.K. newcomers AS LIONS, featuring Austin Dickinson (son of IRON MAIDEN‘s Bruce Dickinson), will round out the supporting lineup, following the tour’s previous openers-turned-success stories NOTHING MORE and FROM ASHES TO NEW.

Tickets are available for purchase via VIP and fan club pre-sales tomorrow at 10 a.m. ET at Ticketmaster.com. Local and venue pre-sales begin Thursday, April 28 at 10 a.m. local time on Ticketmaster.com. The general public on-sale starts this Friday, April 29 at 10 a.m. local time.

Says FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH guitarist Zoltan Bathory about the tour: “I wanted to give you a brilliant quote about trying to keep rock music alive by assembling bills that can sell out arenas where everyone can have the production rock shows deserve, or bringing out new talented bands and expose them to huge crowds… or about rebuilding a community with the help of rock radio, and donating to good causes while we are at it… but we are so busy doing it that I ran out of quotes.”

SHINEDOWN has always been about sharing the undeniable power of rock music,” says SHINEDOWN frontman Brent Smith. “And performing live is where we make that connection most directly, where we can truly experience that power together with our fans in its purest form because we are literally sharing the same physical space, living in that moment as one. FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH shares that passion and commitment, and, like us, leaves it all out on the stage every single night. Come experience the power of rock music with us.”

“We are really excited and proud to be part of this tour with FFPD and SHINEDOWN. Having spent many months in the studio recording ‘Prayers For The Damned’, it will give us the opportunity to play our new songs and hits in arenas”, says Sixx. “They have been such supporters of new music and we are grateful for the opportunity to be a part of this powerful night of music!” adds James Michael. “I can’t tell you how excited we are to be sharing the bill with FFDP and SHINEDOWN, this tour is going to be off the f’n chain, can’t wait to see you all out there!” states DJ Ashba.

“This will be the most explosive and dynamic rock tour these cities have ever experienced!” added Frank Productions president Charlie Goldstone.

The bands have partnered to donate $1 from each ticket sold on the tour to four hand-picked charitable organizations close to their hearts: FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH chose the Badge of Honor Memorial Foundation, SHINEDOWN selected MusiCares, SIXX:A.M. will support Jada Pinkett Smith‘s anti-human trafficking organization Don’t Sell Bodies, and AS LIONS will donate to Make A Wish America. In addition to the $1 donation per ticket, the bands have teamed up with Crowdrise to give fans the option to enter for the chance to win VIP tickets plus a meet-and-greet by choosing to donate an additional $5 at the time of purchase. Fans who don’t live in one of the cities on the tour, but would still like to support the efforts, can visit Crowdrise to donate $5 and be entered for a chance to win a flyaway to the show of their choice plus a meet-and-greet with all four bands.

Coinciding with the announcement of the fall tour, FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH is also celebrating the platinum certification of its 2009 album “War Is The Answer”, as well as the gold certification of its 2013 album “The Wrong Side Of Heaven And The Righteous Side Of Hell, Vol. 1”.

SHINEDOWN recently launched “Asking For It” — the third single off of the multiplatinum rock band’s current album, “Threat To Survival” — with an electrifying performance on ABC‘s “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”. “Asking For It” follows the album’s back-to-back #1 singles “Cut The Cord” and “State Of My Head”, and looks to build upon the band’s already record-setting tally of 20 chart-topping singles.

DUFF MCKAGAN & MIKE MCCREADY Join Forces In LEVEE WALKERS

GUNS N’ ROSES bassist Duff McKagan and PEARL JAM guitarist Mike McCready have joined forces with ex-SCREAMING TREES drummer Barrett Strong to form a new project called LEVEE WALKERS.

The first two songs from LEVEE WALKERS, titled “Freedom Song” and “Tears For The West”, also feature KILLING JOKE singer Jaz Coleman. Jaz is just the first in a handful of select singers who will be putting words and voice to the music of the LEVEE WALKERS.

According to Martin, LEVEE WALKERS‘ collaboration with Coleman took seed several years ago at the Classic Rock Awards. “We have been listening to his music for decades,” Martin wrote “We were seated at the same table and introduced by our fellow bandmate Duff McKagan, and we immediately hit it off with a night of memorable conversation, which is how great collaborations usually begin.”

Martin added: “A Levee Walker, by the way, is a phantom that occasionally appears on the tops of levees in the deep American South, which is the mystical heartland of all American music. And like a levee walking phantom, this band will appear, disappear and reappear again, as the musical inspiration suits us.”

McCready and Martin previously played together in MAD SEASON, the ’90s supergroup also featuring late ALICE IN CHAINS vocalist Layne Staley. McKagan and Martin were also members of WALKING PAPERS, which released its debut album in 2012.

ACE FREHLEY’s ‘Origins Vol. 1’ Cracks U.S. Top 25

Original KISS guitarist Ace Frehley‘s solo covers set, “Origins Vol. 1”, debuted at No. 23 on The Billboard 200, having shifted 16,109 equivalent album units in the week ending April 21.

The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week based on multi-metric consumption, which includes traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA).

In terms of pure album sales, “Origins Vol. 1” opened with just under 15,824 copies.

Ace has also confirmed that his music video for the FREE cover “Fire And Water” will feature his former bandmate and KISS‘s co-founding frontman Paul Stanley. The clip will be released Wednesday, April 27, coincidentally Frehley‘s 65th birthday.

The “Fire And Water” video holds its place in rock and roll history as the first time in 14 years that Frehley and Stanley have shared a stage since KISS‘s appearance at the 2002 Winter Olympic Games in Salt Lake City. It’s also the first time Frehley has released a music video since 1989, which was Frehley’s cover of “Do Ya” by ELO and THE MOVE.

During an appearance on KBAD 94.5‘s “Morning Crash” radio show, Stanley stated about his collaboration with Frehley: “Ace was doing an album of covers, songs that influenced him and that he loved, and called me. And it’s always very funny, because with caller ID, I look, and the phone’s ringing, and I see Ace‘s name come up. So, of course…

“Look, for all the bickering and stuff that we may say about each other, we go back to a very magical time. We started this together. So in spite of whatever we may say from time to time or things that get blown up, we are a family, and a dysfunctional one, but nonetheless a family.

“So Ace said, ‘Would you do something on the album?’ I said, ‘Sure. Of course.'”

He continued: “If [Ace] succeeds, it only makes me happy. I don’t wanna see anybody fail, especially somebody who I’m close to. Even if I don’t speak to him weekly, even monthly, we are connected in a way that will go to the end.

“There’s a great song by FREE called ‘Fire And Water’, which was on the album with ‘All Right Now’. Paul Rodgers, besides being a friend of mine, is one of the consummate vocalists. So to get a chance to sing something that’s a little different than what I do in KISS was something I didn’t take lightly, because Paul Rodgers is a hell of a vocalist. So it was great, and it was a lot of fun, and it was terrific. And I only wish Ace well with it.”

Ace spoke to Rolling Stone about his teamup with Stanley. Frehley said: “I thought Paul did a fabulous vocal on it. He jumped at the chance to do this because it’s something that’s outside of KISS and his character in KISS, and it gave him a chance to, y’know, sing. With Paul, you usually think of him singing in a slightly higher register and on ‘Fire And Water’, he’s singing deep from his diaphragm, and it’s a real cool vocal. Everyone’s who heard it was just thinks it’s the shit.”

Other high-profile artists guesting with Ace on the new album are Slash, Lita Ford, Mike McCready, and John 5. In addition to the FREE track, Ace and his guests tackle key classic rock touchstones by CREAM, STEPPENWOLF, LED ZEPPELIN, THIN LIZZY, THE JIMI HENDRIX EXPERIENCE, THE ROLLING STONES, THE KINKS — and even KISS.

“Origins Vol. 1” track listing:

01. White Room (CREAM)
02. Street Fighting Man (ROLLING STONES)
03. Spanish Castle Magic (JIMI HENDRIX) (feat. John 5)
04. Fire And Water (FREE) (feat. Paul Stanley)
05. Emerald (THIN LIZZY) (feat. Slash)
06. Bring It On Home (LED ZEPPELIN)
07. Wild Thing (THE TROGGS) (feat. Lita Ford)
08. Parasite (KISS) (feat. John 5)
09. Magic Carpet Ride (STEPPENWOLF)
10. Cold Gin (KISS) (feat. Mike McCready)
