BLACK SABBATH Documents Final Concert With ‘The End Of The End’ Film

“The End Of The End” chronicles the final tour from the band that spawned the metal genre — BLACK SABBATH. On February 4, 2017, SABBATH stormed the stage in their hometown of Birmingham, to play the 81st and final triumphant gig of “The End” tour. This monumental show brought down the curtain on a career that spanned almost half a century.

The sold-out performance marked the culmination of a global tour that saw the band play to over one and a half million fans. With their inception in 1968, BLACK SABBATH pioneered a sound that would form the basis of heavy metal, and to this day continues to influence bands the world over.

The film brings fans the up close and personal story of the final, emotionally charged concert, as the band perform hits, including “Iron Man”, “Paranoid”, “War Pigs” and many more. Join SABBATH in the studio, as they deliver unique and exclusive performances of some of their favorite songs not played on the tour, and catch an intimate glimpse into the band’s world; the music, relationships and banter, alongside personal anecdotes.

The band said: “To bring it all back home after all these years was pretty special. It was so hard to say goodbye to the fans, who’ve been incredibly loyal to us through the years. We never dreamed in the early days that we’d be here 49 years later doing our last show on our home turf.”

“The End Of The End” offers you the chance to witness for yourself BLACK SABBATH‘s incredible swansong. As Ozzy Osbourne says: “What a journey we’ve all had. It’s fucking amazing.” This is the final word from the greatest heavy metal band of all time.

Marc Allenby from Trafalgar Releasing said: “Trafalgar Releasing are excited to be expanding our music events with the legendary band, BLACK SABBATH, and their final ever historic show. We look forward to collaborating with Eagle Rock and BLACK SABBATH‘s management on ‘The End Of The End’.”

For one night only on September 28 2017, over 1,500 cinemas worldwide will be showing a specially edited version of “Black Sabbath: The End Of The End”.

The film will be distributed to cinemas worldwide by Trafalgar Releasing on September 28 and will include the incredible final gig as well as unprecedented behind the scenes access to the band, filmed by director Dick Carruthers (“Led Zeppelin: Celebration Day”, “Imagine Dragons: Smoke + Mirrors Live”). “The End, Live In Birmingham” will be released in various formats later this year.

Tickets are now on sale worldwide with more cinemas to follow soon. If “Black Sabbath: The End of the End” is not screening in a specific area, fans can make a request for via “Demand It” it by filling out a form on the web site, and Trafalgar Releasing will do their best to bring the event to a cinema near them.

GENE SIMMONS & ACE FREHLEY Collaborate On 2 New Songs For Ex-KISS Guitarist’s Next Solo Album

GENE SIMMONS And ACE FREHLEY Collaborate On Two New Songs For Ex-KISS Guitarist's Next Solo Album

Gene Simmons has co-written two songs for Ace Frehley‘s next solo album, the KISS bassist/vocalist has revealed.

The news of the two former KISS bandmates’ collaboration was broken by the bassist/vocalist as he was giving an interview to the Minnesota classic rock radio station 92 KQRS last week.

Asked if KISS has any plans to return to the studio and make new music, Simmons said: “Well, I suppose at some point. But literally two days ago I was with Ace, who’s not in the band — he used to be in the band three different times — and we wrote two songs. He asked me to write for his next solo record. So I went over to his place, way out in the desert some place, and we wrote two things. And eventually the band [the current lineup of KISS] will go back in [the studio to make new music]. But there’s no great incentive, because the record industry, the entire thing, is so dysfunctional. You work hard and you get paid, and if we’re gonna work a year on a record, I wanna get paid too. KISS is not a charity. We make a difference between what we do personally and as a band. We buy houses for vets, we supply jobs, we give money to charity, but that’s ’cause I wanna give. I don’t want anybody deciding that our art, our music, our concerts is free, because ‘you have enough money.'”

Even though Frehley reached out to Simmons a couple of years about contributing the original KISS guitarist’s “Origins Vol. 1” collection of covers, the bassist/vocalist ended up not appearing on the record because “either [Gene] didn’t get the message or he was just too busy,” Frehley told the WPDH 101.5 FM radio station last year.

“Origins Vol. 1” featured a guest appearance by KISS guitarist/vocalist Paul Stanley on a cover of the FREE classic “Fire And Water”.

Frehley said in March that he was still on good terms with Stanley. “Yeah, we’re good friends,” the ex-KISS guitarist told Brazil’s Kazagastão (KZG). He added that he also reconnected with Simmons for the first time since they spent time with each other at KISS‘s Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction in 2014. “I just saw Gene [in February]. He came to my concert in Los Angeles. He hung out all night. [He was] very, very, very friendly. He was great with everybody.”

Asked if there is any chance that he will rejoin KISS in the not-too-distant future, Frehley said: “I haven’t heard anything. But if I were a betting man, I’d say maybe 50-50. That’s good odds.”

Rumors about Frehley‘s return to KISS gained strength last year after he teamed up with Stanley on the “Fire And Water” cover in what was their first collaboration since 1998’s “Psycho Circus”.

Stanley told Billboard earlier this year that he had no interest in a reunion of KISS‘s original lineup. “I sang on Ace‘s most recent album and did a video with him,” he said. “I have the connection and the reconnection and to celebrate the good things we’ve done together is terrific. The band as it is — I’ve played with [current KISS drummer] Eric Singer for, I think, 25 years and Tommy‘s [Thayer, guitar] been in the band probably 15 years at this point. I have no thoughts of revisiting the past. With that said, I am happy to enhance or do whatever I can for anyone who has helped put me where I am, but that doesn’t include getting hitched again to somebody I unhitched from.”

IRON MAIDEN Comic Book Coming This Summer From ‘Heavy Metal’

IRON MAIDEN Comic Book Coming This Summer From 'Heavy Metal'

According to Nerdist, Heavy Metal will unleash an IRON MAIDEN comic book this summer.

Based on the mobile role-playing game Iron Maiden: Legacy Of The Beast, the comic is set to feature the band’s longtime mascot Eddie battling through the worlds of their albums.

Heavy Metal told Nerdist about the series: “Eddie‘s immortal soul is shattered and strewn across the cosmos. Now, Eddie must journey across space and time to battle the twisted legions of The Beast, seek out the lost shards of his soul, and bring order to the realms.”

“As a lifelong fan of IRON MAIDEN, it is a privilege to publish the first comic giving a narrative to their iconic mascot, Eddie,” Heavy Metal‘s Jeff Krelitz said of the project. “When we discussed the potential of coming together on this project, it was immediately clear that there was no better home for IRON MAIDEN than Heavy Metal. Heavy Metal‘s nearly half-century-long history of either working with or launching the careers of only the most accomplished artists continues here with the amazing team IRON MAIDEN has working on this series.”

Written by Llexi Leon and Ian Edginton with art from Kevin J. West, Iron Maiden: Legacy Of The Beast is set to premiere in July’s Heavy Metal #287.

JACK RUSSELL’S GREAT WHITE To Celebrate 30th Anniversary Of ‘Once Bitten’ With U.S. Tour/Acoustic Album

JACK RUSSELL'S GREAT WHITE To Celebrate 30th Anniversary Of 'Once Bitten' With U.S. Tour, Acoustic Album

JACK RUSSELL’S GREAT WHITE will celebrate the 30th anniversary of GREAT WHITE‘s hit album “Once Bitten” with a tour and new acoustic album, “Once Acoustically Bitten”. The acoustic album will be released on July 14 and the band will kick off their U.S. tour on July 6. They will stay on the road through summer and into fall playing songs off their new acoustic release, the multi-platinum “Once Bitten” album and, on some shows, the entire “Once Bitten” LP from start to finish.

Before the tour kicks off, the band will be previewing material from the upcoming release on June 29 — the original release date for “Once Bitten” — at Guitar Center in Los Angeles. Fans will be able to watch the entire performance on Facebook Live at 7 p.m. PST on the band’s Facebook page. A week later they begin the tour in Kansas and will hit cities across the U.S. including Fort Collins, Pasadena, Cincinnati, Los Angeles, and more.

“The ‘Once Bitten’ album for me was the album that finally put us in the musical space that I felt the band should be in,” says lead singer Jack Russell. He goes on: “We had been searching prior to that… our first album was kind of similar to JUDAS PRIEST and our second album was very keyboard heavy. The ‘Once Bitten’ album hit and we all just knew this was our area, this was where we should be.

“This new acoustic record is an homage to thirty years of making music and thirty years since our first, big platinum album. Three decades later and we’re still able to go out there and sing and play for our fans. It’s a blessing.”

BLACK STAR RIDERS have inked a new worldwide deal with Nuclear Blast Entertainment.

Formed in 2012, BLACK STAR RIDERS signed their first contract with Nuclear Blast Entertainment in the same year. Under the banner of the independent label, the band released three critically acclaimed albums: “All Hell Breaks Loose”, “The Killer Instinct” and “Heavy Fire”.

BLACK STAR RIDERS‘ latest album, “Heavy Fire”, was a worldwide success, reaching position No. 6 on the U.K. chart, No. 11 on the German chart, No. 91 on U.S. Current Top Albums chart.

BLACK STAR RIDERS frontman Ricky Warwick commented: “Nuclear Blast have been there since the inception of BLACK STAR RIDERS… believing in the band and most importantly the songs. After three very successful albums, it’s a no-brainer for the band to stay where we belong.”

Guitarist Scott Gorham added: “Nuclear Blast Entertainment are one of the best labels I have ever worked with. I am thrilled to continue BLACK STAR RIDERS relationship with this great group of people!”

Guitarist Damon Johnson said: “What a pleasure working with the entire team at Nuclear Blast over the past five years. We look forward to the next five and beyond.”

Bassist Robert Crane stated: “So thankful to be apart of the Nuclear Blast family! Looking forward to our future together.”

“The Dark Project”, the debut album from FRAGILE MORTALS, the new band that combines hip-hop legend Darryl “DMC” McDaniels (RUN-D.M.C.) with the metal group GENERATION KILL — featuring vocalist Rob Dukes (ex-EXODUS) and bassist Rob Moschetti (ex-PRO-PAIN, M.O.D.) — will be made available for digital download on July 13.

A 42-minute video featuring behind-the-scenes footage from the making of the disc can be seen below.

“The Dark Project” is expected to include “Fired Up” and “Suicide”, the two singles that were released last year via Bumblefoot Music, the record label of artist/producer Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal (ART OF ANARCHY, ex-GUNS N’ ROSES), who also produced and added additional guitar solos to the tracks. “Suicide” is also featured in the audio version of DMC‘s memoir, “Ten Ways Not To Commit Suicide”, which came out last July.

Stemming from a chance meeting between Dukes and DMC, an initial one-track collaboration for a DMC solo album turned into a full-on force, as FRAGILE MORTALS was born. The band then recruited the ear of Thal as producer, and their combined creative vision has allowed the band to grow further than expected. Lending the occasional guitar riff and solo to the tracks, Ron‘s contributions earned him the title of unofficial seventh member.

Addressing issues ranging from suicide, drug abuse, prostitution, life and death, and racism, “The Dark Project” also offers a glimmer of hope and light at the end of a gritty tunnel, exposing the darker side of humanity without glorifying it in any way.

FRAGILE MORTALS offers the listener an intellectual look into real-world issues, as the music takes you on a journey, serving as the soundtrack to this all-too-real story.
