BLACK LABEL SOCIETY Recruits LIZZY BORDEN Guitarist DARIO LORINA

Image

BLACK LABEL SOCIETY has recruited Dario Lorina (LIZZY BORDEN) as the band’s new guitarist.

Says LIZZY BORDEN frontman and namesake: “We are extremely proud and happy for Dario Lorina on being selected as Zakk Wylde‘s BLACK LABEL SOCIETY‘s new guitarist.

“It’s been an amazing ride performing all around the world with Dario. He is a true professional and an incredible blues-driven artistic guitarist, adding so much to the BORDEN sound. Personally, it was a privilege for me to have him on my left side for the last four years and I know Zakk, his band and their fans are going to love Dario, as we all do.

Dario will be missed in the BORDEN camp but he will always be one of us and we wish him all the luck in the world.”

Touring for over a span of seven years since age sixteen, first with late WARRANT singer Jani Lane and in more recent years with LIZZY BORDENDario Lorina released his first solo recording, entitled simply “Dario Lorina”, on September 10, 2013 via Shrapnel Records.

Growing up listening to guitarists such as Randy RhoadsPaul GilbertGeorge Lynch and Eddie Van HalenDario‘s music harkens back to the glory days of high-caliber shred guitar, the genre of which Shrapnel Records was a founding force.

Dario Lorina‘s debut solo CD reveals a guitarist brimming with extreme musical ability. This guitarist brings more diverse influences into play than the average neo-classical riff monger. While technically proficient like all of the label’s guitar instrumentalists, Dario‘s CD isn’t just about shredding. It’s an American guitar instrumental album having more in common with riffs reminiscent of Paul GilbertGeorge Lynch and Eddie Van Halen than the European influence of guitarists such as Yngwie Malmsteen.

Phil Campbell from MOTÖRHEAD had this to say, “I think Dario Lorina is one Amazing guitar player! Having known him for many years, he never ceases to amaze me every time we hang out and jam! He blew me away when he played with us in Vegas. A true talent and an amazingly nice guy.”

Dario has his own signature guitar model with LAG Guitars, founded in 1980 and headquartered in Bedarieux, France.

BLACK LABEL SOCIETY recently amicably parted ways with longtime guitarist Nick Catanese.

Zakk Wylde and the rest of BLACK LABEL SOCIETY are holed up in Wylde‘s personal recording studio working on their much-anticipated new album for a tentative April 2014 release via eOne MusicWylde joked in a recent interview that the forthcoming CD will be “all completely the same as the last nine records, except just different songtitles.”

BLACK LABEL SOCIETY‘s new live DVD, Blu-ray, and Digital Video, “Unblackened”, was released on September 24, 2013 by Eagle Rock EntertainmentWylde‘s label home, eOne Music, also released the audio version of the “Unblackened” DVD under the same name.

The double disc release has six additional tracks not found on the DVD, including two acoustic versions of “Queen Of Sorrow” and “Won’t Find It Here”, and covers of LEON RUSSELL‘s “Song For You” and BILL WITHERS‘ “Ain’t No Sunshine When She’s Gone”.

BLACK LABEL SOCIETY‘s “The Song Remains Not The Same” sold around 12,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 41 on The Billboard 200 chart. Released on May 10, 2011 via Entertainment One Music, the offering featured unplugged versions of material from BLACK LABEL SOCIETY‘s latest album, “Order Of The Black”, as well as additional material recorded during the “Order Of The Black” sessions. “The Song Remains Not The Same” was conceived, created and compiled by Wylde himself and the title is, of course, a nod to one of Wylde‘s favorite bands, LED ZEPPELIN.

“Order Of The Black” was released in North America in August 2010 via E1 Music. The CD featured four unique covers designed by Zakk Wylde himself — one for each territory: North America, Europe, Asia and Australia/New Zealand.

ZAKK WYLDE Says New BLACK LABEL SOCIETY Studio Album Should Arrive In April

Eric Blair of “The Blairing Out With Eric Blair Show” conducted an interview with Zakk Wylde (BLACK LABEL SOCIETYOZZY OSBOURNE) at the Bass Player LIVE! Concert & Awards Show, which was held this past Saturday night (November 9) at the historic Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles, California. The concert honored heavy metal legend, BLACK SABBATH‘s Geezer Butler, and featured an all-star band of rock luminaries performing BLACK SABBATH songs as a tribute to Butler. The performance culminated with Geezer joining the band for the finale.

BLACK LABEL SOCIETY‘s new live DVD, Blu-ray, and Digital Video, “Unblackened”, was released on September 24 by Eagle Rock EntertainmentWylde‘s label home, eOne Music, also released the audio version of the “Unblackened” DVD under the same name. Since their early Nineties inception, BLACK LABEL SOCIETY, formed and helmed by guitar legend Zakk Wylde, has been at the forefront of hard rock. Their penchant for hard riffs and blazing solos has resulted in a slew of hugely successful albums and a reputation as one of the most powerful live bands of their generation. “Unblackened”, however, unveils another side of the band.

Filmed and recorded on March 6 in high definition at Los Angeles’ Club Nokia, “Unblackened” is BLACK LABEL SOCIETY presenting their songs in a whole new light, with greater use of acoustic instrumentation. Wylde plays both guitar and piano, with Nick Catanase on guitar, John DeServio on bass/vocals, Chad Szeliga on drums, Derek Sherinian on keyboards/piano, and Greg Locascio providing additional vocals.

Their stripped-down approach highlights the subtler nuances of the songwriting, without losing any of the fire or intensity. Classic tracks like “Stillborn”“The Blessed Hellride”“In This River”“Throwin’ It All Away”“Losin’ Your Mind” and many others are still punctuated by the stinging, searing solos that fans know and love, while showcasing the versatility of the band.

In addition to the concert, “Unblackened” is rich in bonus material. A new interview with Zakk, photo gallery, music video for “Losin’ Your Mind”, and a feature with Wylde visiting HM Prison Stocken in the U.K . are all included.

Death Division Is Just Starting to Live

I’m on the verge if what will be 4 years of being a DJ and during that time if heard bands that have come and gone while others I didn’t get a chance to hear but blown up big resulting in me feeling dumb about missing them at their start. Then there are the bands that I hear and sense big things for, Death Division is that kind of band.

I first heard about Death Division from my friend and fellow DJ RadioJ, saying there was something about them. Then I got a song from them and was working on setting up an interview with their front man Sean de la Tour (click here to listen to that interview) when it was announced they’d be part of this years Gigantour.

Since that interview things have continued to go well for Death Division. Playing on Gigantour and releasing their debut EP “mmxiii” (click here to buy it on iTunes) to great reviews.

The bands line up of Sean de la Tour on Vocals & Guitar,  Rick DiMarco on Guitar, Jerry Montano (Hellyeah) on Bass, and Tim Yeung (Nile, Morbid Angel, Hate Eternal) on drums work together as if they’ve been playing together for years. Listening to their debut EP makes you forget that its a debut. The song “We Are The Fallen” is a great track that brings the fans and band together with its message of how no matter how often you are knocked down you just gotta keep going and keep fighting. Plus a song like “I’ve Had Enough” is something we’ve all said and been through in our lives so its another easily identifiable song between band and fans.

Death Division has recently left Gigantour to head back to LA to start pre-production on a full length album to be released in 2014. I am anxiously awaiting that as I can tell from just the EP that this is the beginning for them. If you saw them on Gigantour you know this, if you haven’t pick up their EP “mmxiii” on iTunes and hear what we’ve heard.
